ART OF READING
RESIDENCY Day One The entire school sees performances of one of Fantasy Theatre Factory’s reading literacy programs: Bananas, Books, and Pancakes, Little Monster Tales, or Stories from America’s Backyard. Each performance is followed by a Q&A session with the cast and FTF artist-educator. Day Two Up to five workshops (one hour in length) with individual 4th or 5th grade classes. Students interact with two Fantasy Theatre Factory artist-educators. Artists will lead students through reading for expression, movement, and vocal exercises. Students will also discuss the books covered in the play, the authors, and begin to rehearse and prepare play readings from the program. Students are given selections from the show to practice on their own. Day Three Fantasy Theatre Factory artists return for a full day to give final “reading for expression” coaching in classroom and to videotape may student performances! |
